Sara Teasdale (August 8, 1884 – January 29, 1933), was an American lyrical poet. Because of her poor health, she could begin her school life at 9.. Her first poem was published in 1907 in Reedy's mirror, the local newspaper.Her first collection of poems, Sonnets to Duse and Other Poems, was published that same year and the second collection of poems, Helen of Troy and Other Poems, was published in 1911. She married Ernst Filsinger, a rich exporter, in 1914 although she fell in love with Vachel Lindsay, the poet. Her third poetry collection, Rivers to the Sea, was published in 1915 which received further critical praise.In 1918, her poetry collection Love Songs won three awards. She divorced with Filsinger because she was not happy with her marriage. In 1933, she committed suicide by overdosing sleeping pills. Her ex Vachel Lindsay committed suicide 2 years eariler.
